Just general news items you care to discuss. My current peeve is in US news they have been going on about this new thing 'kids' are doing to get drunk/high which is to take hard liqour (Rum, vodka, etc) and put some dry ice in the clasee which vaporizes the alcohol and then they inhale it, producing a quicker effect becuase the alcohol is not processed, it goes straight to the system. Therefore there is no way for anyone doing this to know how much they are ingesting leading to alcohol poisoning and other v dangerous effects.
Now this poses two problems for me. One that people will do crazy stuff like this and two, that the newscasters are showing other 'kids' how to do it. So anyone watching can go - oh that looks cool and give it a try. While they are explaining the harm in this, they are showing pictures of older teens/college kids inhaling the alcohol and having a good time.
That kind of sends the wrong message I think. Is news like this in other countries??

I have nothing good to say about US TV "news". Its largely indistinguishable from the "Inside Hollywood" type of programming, except that the people being reported on are politicians rather than actresses. I try and keep track of current events by browsing various (mostly foreign) news web sites, and when I want an in depth story, I'll pick up an imported newspaper or wait until one of the domestic news magazines reports on it.

I agree drgoon. I stay well informed using the internet mostly. TV, radio, and most print news is full of nonsense or they really don't give the whole story. It is often insulting to my intelligence (which in itself is debatable ). I don't believe most people care anyway, as long as they are happy in general.
