Surely there must be other fans out there who have discovered the incredible world of Steve Wilson and Porcupine Tree. Steve also has a number of other bands on the go including Noman and Blackfield - both wonderful bands. He also was involved in the Opeth album Deliverance which is 100% mellow for a doom metal band - shades of Porcupine Tree and Camel across that album.
Any thoughts?

Big Big PT fan here. I am surprised that there aren't a few more PT fans over here too as the Nosound sound is reminiscent of no-man and PT. Perhaps if SW agrees to produce the next nosound album then they will all come flooding in

Hi, just a thank you for all the messages on the PT forum, I hope there will be more so that new PT fans will know about Nosound.
I asked Steven to collaborate on Nosound, but he's really busy so at the moment I think it's not possible in the near future, but I still hope it will happen!

He also was involved in the Opeth album Deliverance which is 100% mellow for a doom metal band - shades of Porcupine Tree and Camel across that album. Any thoughts? I think you mean 'D a m n a t i o n', 'Deliverance' was the heavy one. But yeah I love Porcupine Tree, Bass Communion, Opeth, and the Steven Wilson Cover Version stuff too. PS: Excuse the spacing in 'D a m n a t i o n'. This forum is blocking out the word 'd a m n'. So it comes out looking like that --> Damnation.

Yes D-amnation has some really brilliant ideas, Opeth are a really great band.

I love Porcupine Tree, Blackfield, and Opeth. I was actually turned onto Porcupine Tree through Mikael of Opeth. Steven Wilson, Mikael Akerfeldt, and Mike Portnoy are said to be doing an album together in the future. Should be really sweet!

I have ordered the latest CD and am looking forward to getting it. PT, Opeth amongst others are excellent.
Good Luck to NoSound with their latest CD. ;D Ken

Yes and just about anything else SW does (including Opeth) or Tim Bowness does. TB working with Nosound is truly an exciting prospect to a fan of both!

Yes, I know..... no, I love their music!! And in my opinion Nosound's music has many influences from early PT and No-Man.

I have, what, 60+ PT recordings, then all the Blackfield, Steven Wilson, OSI, No-Man, IEM, Continuum, Bass Communion recordings. Yeah, I listen to a little PT I got da CD's, Vinyl, and Cassettes... The thingy is, they are going into a distinctly metaloid direction, which could be a "not good" thing. I prefer a more diverse PT where they mix it up - not going in a single direction. No-Man arrived in the mail today, but I have previously listend to it and like it a lot. The last couple of albums by them are high quality music. Some of the early stuff too. Blackfield - I though they were boring at first (compared to PT), but really enjoy both albums immensely. Went to see them last March and loved the show. My distinction: Blackfield does songs, PT does music. IEM - Ehhhhhh. Proggrl knows my opinion on that side work. Bass Communion - Listen to it in bed on a dark quiet night. The next morning people will think you are insane (just kidding). Very interesting stuff. Final Note: I still think they should have subtitled it "The 17 Minute Beast"

Scandalous. Arcadia Son may well be Steven Wilson's finest album.

^^ It may just be! He didn't even know what GOMT was! Anyway - this thread was only asking about PT and No-man! hehehe IEM and BC and Blackfield opinions don't count here. Tho it goes without saying - anything SW has done has been genious. Especially IEM.
