Amazed that this thread doesn't exist yet...
Well, after about 30 listenings I can easily say this (again) is a brilliant album by Nousound. Stand out tracks to me are (in no particular order):
Fading Silently
Tender Claim
My Apology
Winter will come
closely followed by Constant Contrast and Some Warmth into this Chill.
No, there are no bad tracks on this album, no skippers as far as I'm concerned. Not even songs that due to style, atmosphere or lyrics belong elsewhere. No, it's just one coherent collection of songs that just as easily could be considered a concept album. I love it.
The only drawback is the sound quality of voices and drums. They sound a bit roomy, not as tight and present as could have been. It has a negative impact on the overall sound quality and put it in the same league as so many prog rock bands have been in for decades. Which is a shame, because the music deserves better. PT for instance for the most part manage to stay clear of these drawbacks, which I think is one of the reasons they attract so many fans. The power of the music and especially the involvement with the music is greatly influenced (well, to me anyway) by the sound quality. The better the recording, the bigger the involvement, the higher the praises.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying this album has a bad sound quality. I'm just saying voices and drums are lacking a bit in that department. Maybe it's deliberate, I don't know. The question then would be: Why record it this way?
