^^ It may just be! He didn't even know what GOMT was! Anyway - this thread was only asking about PT and No-man! hehehe IEM and BC and Blackfield opinions don't count here. Tho it goes without saying - anything SW has done has been genious. Especially IEM. To set the record straight, I knew what Ghosts on Magnetic Tape was, I have the fricken CD. I don't do acronymns, I don't speak in code. Elitists... what are ya gonna do? I'll go back and listen to Arcadia Son again. But if it partially melts my brain, you are going to get a phone call Drgoon. (BTW Proggrl clued me into where Drgoon comes from the other day - DUH! Sometimes I do feel like an idiot.)

I am a huge PT fan. I'd have to say they are my favorite band these days. As mentioned, they have gone to a heavier sound recently. I don't mind it as I also enjoy heavy music. Sounds like The Incident will be more varied than the past 3. I am so looking forward to this release. Going to see them in Toronto with my wife who btw does not like them. She loves Toronto though so hope it makes up for it! I also saw Opeth there recently. Great band and awesome show. Have to say, I got Arcadia Son and after just 2 listens... maybe I'll try again sometime. Blackfield is good. 2nd release is way better.

Yeah. I.E.M. is a totally different beast. The thing I love most about Wilson (thus far) is his ability to be completely different from project to project.
Tho I did think Insurgentes was a complete view of all these things. If you listen to enough of his output, you'll hear exactly where that album came from. It's PURE SW.
BTW - I do happen to like me some IEM - he's done some amazing things under that 'moniker'.

Huge PT fan and Huge No man fan, esp. the recent stuff, from Together we're Stranger onwards, which I still think is by far the best work No man has ever done. Just pure brilliance.

I recently obtained Schoolyard Ghosts. Which do you recommend next? I also purchased an earlier work which I now can't find, it had one good song, I think Days form Trees or of trees?? I disliked the rest of that CD. Schoolyard Ghosts I like very much.

If you like Schoolyard Ghost, the next one you want to look into is Returning Jesus. Even though every No man album is different, you'll find many songs on there that are in line with SG. But if you esp. like the dreamy part of the album, then dive straight into Together were Stranger. In contrast with SG it's not an album that contains sperate songs, to me it's more like one big song, a bit like PT's The Incident, but of course very different in style and atmosphere. It's heartbreakingly beautiful.

Which can really be said of most No-man tracks! Which is why I love them!

Be prepared for something completely different. Listen to it in the evening, with just a few lights on (preferably candles) and let yourself be swept away by small waves of very deep emotion. This music presents itself in a modest way, but goes much deeper than most music that wants to impress.
Enjoy, you've made a great decision.

Received Together We're Stranger today! I like it very much, more than Schoolyard Ghosts. There are more dynamics, more to hear. Maybe I'll try Returning Jesus soon.

Glad you like it. You will find more and more detail in there after more listenings. I really love the album and think it succeeds admirably in communicating deep emotions in a non-complicating way. Great art imo.
Returning Jesus has some great songs on there as well, some in the line of TWS. But it's more of a mix of seperate songs and I don't think every song is as strong as the next. But a great album nevertheless.
