I recently saw that Pat Metheny Trio. I was a huge fan of his work back in the 80's, which is different music than the Trio. It was pretty good but I walked away feeling vastly inadequet as a guitar player. I saw Pat playing here with some friends of mine at the jazz festival. Back then, one of my friends directed the jazz seminar here, he offered Pat teaching jazz guitar and he accepted. I wish I had known how to play because I had gone to those classes!

Aw I just saw him play a couple of songs with the big band of my friends. It's not because they are my friends, but they sounded really great (a couple of years ago they were shortlisted for the latin jazz record of the year at the grammy's, woha!) Pat in his classes:

Great ones, Pat is really one of the few jazz players that I feel as complete musicians and artists, not just closed in their genre. He really influenced a lot of modern musicians with his playing and unique sound.

Yep, you are right Giancarlo! That's why I think it would be amazing having him as a teacher!

I feel like I would be wasting his time taking lessons. He should be teaching really high level players or persons with serious potential. I'm not too bad on guitar, but my instructor (a Berkley graduate) kicks my butt, and Pat can kick his butt. The guy is totally amazing.

You can colour me jealous if you do get to go. Just added Adrian Belew (solo) and Nada Surf to my list (and radtoys). I'd trade them BOTH and then some for a Twelfth Night gig tho!
